We’re especially proud that our Baker’s Café on De Meent, our very first store in Rotterdam, had queues of bread lovers from day one.

In our Baker’s Cafés we serve breakfast, lunch with generously topped sandwiches, salads and soups, as well as an extensive High Tea or drinks.

The Markthal

Just an 8-minute walk from our Baker’s Café on De Meent, you’ll find the world-first Markthal.

Covered market halls exist in other cities, but Rotterdam’s is unique: apartments drape over the market in a horseshoe shape. Inside, the hall hosts around 100 fresh food stalls, about 15 specialty food shops, and several restaurants, with a supermarket and a four-level parking garage underneath.

Stroll among the stalls and look up to see the massive artwork Horn of Plenty by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam. It’s the largest art piece in the Netherlands, earning the Markthal the nickname “the Dutch Sistine Chapel.”

Visitors can join a weekend Open Tour with De Rotterdam Tours: a one-hour guided walk through the Markthal and the Cube Houses. The guide shares stories about the design, construction, and behind-the-scenes secrets.
